Summary:

Perform and manage all outsourcing-related activities for global drug development activities in support of clinical trial excellence. This role will engage closely with Clinical Trial Management and Finance to align on specifications, requirements, and budget/valuation of clinical trials. The Category Manager will be part of a team dedicated to developing and deploying category strategies for a range of clinical/pre-clinical services. The Category Manager must be able to engage technically, operationally, and commercially to understand and enable speed, high quality performance, supply assurance, and risk mitigation. Communication with a broad stakeholder group is critical for this role.

Responsibilities:

" Proactively drive strategic sourcing activities in collaboration with stakeholders. Strong category management experience and skills which include conducting opportunity analysis, supplier competitive landscape, developing bid lists, evaluate proposals, supplier selection, supplier management, process optimization and execution of commercial agreements.
" Champion Strategic Sourcing & Procurement initiatives across the company.
" Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external supplies to implement and manage efficient and effective supplier relationships. Develop and manage vendor relationships and issue resolution of moderate to high complexity, support stakeholder teams in resolution of supplier performance issues and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
" Assist internal stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities/processes to influence improvement in service, quality, delivery, and cost and optimal payment terms.
" Strong Contract Management and Negotiation skills.

" Lead supplier governance committees.
" Able to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance. Able to deal with ambiguity and leverage experience and available information to guide decision making.
" Run strategic sourcing activities and negotiate contracts using established tools and technologies to drive efficient and timely outcomes.
" Able to influence and lead those that do not report directly to you and lead others, provide direction to teams, and coach team members at all levels.
" Advanced problem solving skills in a team environment. Excellent influencing skills.
" Competent in computer skills, oral & written communication & multi-tasking. Works to build consensus; frequently mentors more junior team members; frequently works cross-functionally as the representative for their area.

Education
" Bachelor's degree
Experience
" Minimium 7 years of experience.
" MBA, CPM or CPSM desired.
" Full service (i.e. CRO) and/or functional outsourcing experience.
" Experience with Sourcing Contracting, ERP, eRFX systems preferred. (Oracle, Zycus, GEP, Ariba, Other)
" Some previous leadership experience preferred.
