Position Description The person(s) in this role must monitor and manage several "mini projects " over the life of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementation project. There are many teams working on individual tasks and many tasks occurring simultaneously. Therefore, the effective project manager determines the right level of involvementkeeping a close enough eye to recognize problems early but maintaining the "big picture " vision to ensure that the project as a whole is on target.
Skills Required Ensuring that the ERP system meets business requirements and goals Oversee planning activities associated with the project Creates/establishes, maintains, tracks, and controls the project plan and schedules (milestones and deliverables) to ensure the success of the ERP implementation project Ensure that project deliverables are reviewed and approved by appropriate Valley Metro staff in a timely manner Follow-up on project tasks to ensure on-schedule completion Manage project milestones & activities Manage and directs project resources Assist in knocking down any walls that impede the teams from performing their tasks, including working to identify appropriate staff to participate in the project Manage the project schedule and task completion Maintain and manage the overall project budget ensuring contract milestones have been satisfactorily met before disbursing payments from the project funds Monitors and tracks the project budget, keeps project leadership apprised of the project's budget status and escalates any issues and/or projected cost overruns Ensures project goals are properly defined to achieve ERP project objectives and strategies are within budget and established timeframes/deadlines Manage the resolution of project change orders Pro-actively recommends to project leadership critical project direction and scope changes and options, in addition to monitoring and ensuring progress regarding the resolution of issues and risks Participate in the resolution of contract compliance issues Work with the team leads in communicating decisions that need to be brought to the Executive Steering Committee for review and resolution Act as the primary project management interface to the vendor project team Escalate issues in a timely manner to the Executive Steering Committee or Executive Sponsor as appropriate Document and track to resolution project issues and decisions that are noted at a project level Manage and track significant project risks Develops and leads the risk and issue management process for the project and actively directs the development and maintenance of plans, practices, and assignments to identify and quantify the potential occurrence and impact of risks and actual issues for the project Communicate project status, issues and risks to the appropriate stakeholders Ensures detailed project documentation is maintained and is complete inclusive of an issues & risks log Directs and provides overall project management oversight and leadership expertise on the project and/or project related activities/phases to include the entire ERP implementation life cycle including project planning and scheduling, reporting, risk and issues management while providing leadership and guidance to the projects team leaders/members following professional project management practices, standards, processes, and guidelines Ensure that prompt and clear communications to Valley Metro department staff is conducted and coordinated through the Communications, Change Management and Training team Provide progress updates to Valley Metro management, Executive Steering Committee, Valley Metro Council and other interested stakeholders with external facing stakeholder communications coordinated through the Communications, Change Management and Training team Serves as a change agent for the implementation of effective outcomes and implements, manages, and leads an effective project change management control process that proactively identifies project changes which incorporates an impact analysis and approval process Manage the structure and content of the project facing project Intranet site that is visible to staff directly involved in the project Utilization of ERP implementation best practices which leverages such expertise in the acquisition and implementation of the Valley Metro's ERP system Leads the project team by defining, prioritizing, coordinating, and managing project assignments to ensure tasks are completed appropriately and timely Facilitates collaborative relationships with other ERP implementation project teams Provides timely verbal and written communication in addition to executive level presentations of project information such as progress reports and updates to various groups Develops routine written and verbal status reports and provides routine project updates, attends all project meetings and communicates status of project tasks to appropriate parties Demonstrates strong leadership, facilitation, negotiation, mentoring, conflict resolution and personnel management skills Utilizes troubleshooting skills to address project related issues as well as the human resource needs of the team members and acts quickly to resolve problems and issues Coordinates with project leadership for resource assignments, creation of project deliverables, issue resolution and escalates all project issues that are sensitive and/or may impact the welfare of the project Works independently under broad direction and goals
Skills Preferred
Experience Required seven to nine years' progressively responsible professional experience in ERP systems administration and/or ERP workflow and configuration, which includes direct experience managing large teams through upgrades, implementations, and the post-implementation administration ERP applications, preferably with Valley Metro's systems including Abila and ADP Timekeeping; experience overseeing the direction, development, and improvement of business processes with ERP solutions; and experience with relational database administration, including Microsoft Structured Query Language (MSSQL); Oracle, or similar large-scale relational databases; and enterprise-level applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), data warehouses, or equivalent.

Education Required Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration
